Dating website OKCupid has revealed so it experimented on its users, including placing the “wrong” individuals together to see when they would link.

It unveiled the tests following the uproar over Facebook manipulating the feeds of their users.

In addition to permitting users to upload pictures and arranged dating profiles, OKCupid asks users questions and fits all of them with possible lovers in line with the responses.

The site took pairs of “bad” matches between two people – about 30% – and told them they were “exceptionally good” for each other, or 90% matches in one experiment. “Needless to say, the users sent more first communications whenever we said they certainly were compatible,” Christian Rudder, one of many founders of OKCupid, stated in a blog post regarding the organization’s research and insights web log.
