A-B-C Model: The model assists us to know why a kid is behaving in a way that is certain.
- Before (Antecedents): instructor says “John, take a seat. “
- During: (Behavior): John screams.
- After: (effects): instructor states “No screaming” and takes John to time-out.
Antecedents reveal concerning the context for the event and may even assist us to spot causes which tripped a specific behavior. An antecedent could be an action done by the pupil or by others into the environment. For instance, an antecedent will be the trained instructor asking the pupil to stay down. The behavior may be the pupils issue behavior that the instructor is attempting to improve. Within our instance, the pupils problem behavior is just a scream in reaction to your instructors request to take a seat. Effects inform us as to what occurred following the behavior took place. Consequences could be performed by other people into the environment. The consequence was that the teacher said “No screaming” and led the student to time-out in the example.
